What is the cost of workplace injuries?
High Injury Rates in Warehousing: The warehousing industry experiences approximately 5.5 safety incidents per 100 employees annually, highlighting a higher risk than many other sectors. (Source)
Forklift-Related Incidents: Each year, forklifts cause around 7,500 injuries and nearly 100 deaths among workers in factories and warehouses.
Manual material-handling, including lifting and carrying objects, accounts for more than 36% of workplace injuries. These incidents pose significant health risks to employees and impose substantial financial burdens on businesses, with estimated annual costs of $156 billion in medical expenses, rehabilitation, and lost productivity. When you say your products are ergonomic, what do you mean?
EKT machines reduce strain- and fatigue-related injuries, safely transport people and materials across various surfaces and inclines, and boost employee morale and productivity. Our machines offer adjustable heights, multiple hitch options, smooth transfer of heavy loads, and more.
What safety features are built into EKT machines?
Safety features include horns, flashing lights, emergency stops, bumpers, and collision avoidance systems.
What industries use EKT products?
Our motorized material-handling solutions are used across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, retail, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, food and beverage, energy, automotive, aerospace, and heavy manufacturing.
Can I try an EKT material-handling machine before purchasing?
Yes! Protective packaging costs $60 and includes shipping to and from the destination facility. A credit card number must be submitted to ensure a 30-day return of EKT products. Each customer is allowed one 30-day demo unit. Complete the form on the FREE DEMO page.
What’s the heaviest load an EKT machine can move?
EKT motorized rail carts and steerable transfer carts safely move heavy loads up to 40,000 pounds. Custom tuggers can move loads up to 100,000 pounds.
What kind of battery is used in EKT green material-handling machines?
EKT machines use AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) and lithium iron phosphate battery technologies.
How do I recharge my EKT machine?
Plug it into a standard 120-volt, single-phase, 20-amp outlet. Tuggers typically provide up to 8 hours of operation for every 4 hours of charging. Other models feature swappable batteries for continuous use.
Will the battery charger overcharge and damage my batteries?
All chargers we use employ smart charging algorithms that prevent battery damage. As a result, you can keep the charger plugged in even after the batteries are fully charged without causing damage.
What IoT technology does EKT incorporate in its machines?
The advanced battery monitoring system installed on all EKT tuggers provides visual and audible warnings when the battery pack is low and needs to be replaced or recharged. This system helps ensure that electric tuggers operate at peak performance and minimizes the risk of unexpected downtime caused by a dead battery.
Bluetooth® capability allows you to connect your smartphone wirelessly to your entire fleet. With a downloadable app, you can easily monitor and manage your fleet from your smartphone. The app provides access to real-time data, checks vehicle performance, reviews historical data, monitors trends, and more. This capability helps you stay up to date with the health of your fleet and ensure everything is running smoothly.
Does EKT offer motorized solutions as automated guided vehicles (AGVs)?
Yes, EKT offers AGV technology as an option on all our custom motorized transfer carts and some of our electric tuggers.
What technology does EKT offer on its automated guided vehicles (AGVs)?
We utilize the latest navigation and safety sensor technologies to provide equipment that can follow and interact with its surroundings. The position of the EKT equipment is calculated using a combination of sensor data and odometry.
We do not offer older technologies that rely on a physical line, such as magnetic tape, inductive wire, painted lines, or tags mounted on or in the floor.
How are torque and power controlled on EKT machines?
With our AC Vector Power© technology, EKT electric carts deliver maximum power and torque across the entire speed range, unlike traditional DC technology. This gives you the Power You Need at Any Speed© to move any load, anywhere, under any conditions, with precise speed control down to 0.1 mph.
Do I need a license to operate any EKT motorized piece of equipment?
No. Unlike forklifts, which require operators to be trained and licensed, EKT equipment does not require a license to operate. This is one of many reasons companies are moving away from forklifts.
What should be considered when selecting the right electric tugger for my application?
- How does the tugger connect to my cart? Can this connection be customized for my application?
- Can the tugger operate on my floor surface?
- I have inclines to navigate. How will this impact my tugger selection?
- How easy is it to maneuver the tugger in tight spaces?
- Does the temperature and ingress rating (IP) of the tugger match my environmental requirements?
- How long will the batteries last? This varies depending on battery technology and the actual usage of the tugger machine.
- What is the recharge time of the batteries?
- What battery technologies are offered?
- What training is needed for my operators?
Electric tuggers are a versatile and efficient solution for material-handling tasks in a wide range of industries. With their ability to be customized and configured to meet your business’s specific needs, they can help improve productivity, reduce labor costs, and increase safety. Whether you need to move heavy machinery, pallets, carts, or other loads, electric tuggers are often an excellent choice for your operation.
Why choose an electric tugger solution?
